Galaxy XCover 8 Pro to be 50% faster than XCover

In October 2024, we got wind of Samsung’s plans to launch two rugged smartphones: the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro and Galaxy XCover 8 Pro. However, progress has been slow, with updates on their development trickling in at a snail’s pace. While a leak about the XCover 8 Pro’s battery surfaced back in December 2024, things have been quiet since then—until now.

It seems Samsung has finally completed the development of at least one of the two devices, the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro. The phone has now been spotted on TÜV Rheinland and Geekbench, signaling that its launch is just around the corner. These certifications also provide us with some key specifications to get excited about.

TÜV Rheinland Confirms Galaxy XCover 8 Pro Launch in the US and Canada

The TÜV Rheinland certification for the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro mentions four model numbers: SM-G766B, SM-G766U, SM-G766U1, and SM-G766W. These correspond to the phone’s international version, carrier-locked and unlocked US variants, and the Canadian version. This confirms that the rugged phone will make its way to key markets, including the US and Canada.

Galaxy XCover 8 Pro Specs Revealed via Geekbench

The Geekbench listing for the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro sheds light on some of its specs. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, paired with an Adreno 810 GPU. This is the same chipset featured in the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro. One variant of the XCover 8 Pro will come with 6GB of RAM, and the device will run Android 15 with One UI 7 straight out of the box.

Performance-wise, the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro scored 1,157 points in the single-core test and 3,288 points in the multi-core test. For comparison, its predecessor, the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro, scored 773 in single-core and 2,790 in multi-core tests with its Snapdragon 778G SoC. This makes the new device up to 50% faster in single-core performance and 18% better in multi-core performance.

What’s Still Missing?

While these certifications and benchmarks give us a good glimpse into the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro, there’s still a lot we don’t know. Details about the display, camera setup, and connectivity features remain under wraps. With the phone now being certified and benchmarked, it’s safe to say the launch is imminent, and we can expect more leaks and rumors in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates as Samsung prepares to bring its next rugged smartphone to market.
