after Huawei launched the world’s first tri-fold screen mobile phone, it has become the biggest highlight in the technology circle, and even the popularity of the iPhone 16 series has dropped significantly.

Judging from current industry news, all companies are eager to try and prepare to enter the three-fold field, and Samsung is even going to come up with a rollable screen to compete with it.

According to reports, Samsung plans to launch its first rollable screen mobile phone in 2025. The screen size will be larger than Huawei’s tri-fold phone, up to 12.4 inches. It will even use under-screen camera technology to eliminate screen holes.

However, Samsung’s rollable screen was not developed due to the stimulation of Huawei’s tri-fold screen. In fact, Samsung applied for a patent for a rollable screen as early as 2020.

Documents at the time showed that Samsung equipped the scroll screen mobile phone case with two gears and a gear guide to extend or retract the screen.

The top and bottom of the phone are integrated with a chain-like connection system and are covered with a flexible metal foil material to prevent dust and dirt from accumulating inside and affecting the extension and retraction of the phone screen.

The technology allows the phone to change its surface area by sliding in and out, so the screen can transform from the size of a phone to the size of a small tablet.

It is worth noting that since there is no rigid fold, the screen of the rollable screen is almost completely flat, without the crease troubles on the tri-fold screen, and there are fewer gaps in the body, which is theoretically safer.
