According to GSMArena, Samsung is expected to release its next-generation foldable screen on July 22, including two products: the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.
Among them, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is Samsung’s first wide foldable product, with a size and proportion similar to the Huawei Pura X Max.
According to leaks, the device features a 7.6-inch internal screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio, providing a display effect similar to the iPad. Combined with a 5.4-inch external screen, it completely departs from the traditional narrow and elongated shape of foldable screens, significantly improving the experience of document reading and multitasking.
Both the inner and outer screens are 120Hz LTPO dynamic AMOLED with a peak brightness of 2600 nits.
With core configurations on par with flagship models, it features a fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Ultra for Galaxy processor and offers up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
It features a rear dual-camera setup with a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a built-in 4800mAh battery, and supports 45W wired and 25W wireless fast charging.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is 9.8mm thick when folded and only 4.9mm at its thinnest point when unfolded, making it the world’s lightest wide folding phone, weighing approximately 200g.
Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone, to be released in September, will also have a similar aspect ratio. Combined with Huawei’s Pura X series, the three major manufacturers will engage in fierce competition in the wide foldable screen market.
