Samsung was the first to launch a 200MP mobile camera sensor, which made its debut in the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra before appearing in Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra. While Sony initially concentrated on 50MP sensors, the company is now preparing to introduce its first 200MP mobile sensor, marking a direct challenge to Samsung’s leadership in the ultra-high-resolution camera segment.
Sony Unveils the LYT-910: Its First 200MP Camera Sensor
Tipster FeniBook has disclosed initial information regarding Sony’s first 200MP mobile camera sensor, reportedly designated LYT-910. Featuring a 1/1.11-inch design with 0.7µm pixels, the sensor is capable of capturing high-quality 50MP and 200MP images through advanced pixel-binning techniques.
The sensor is expected to support 2x and 4x lossless-quality zoom through in-sensor cropping. The sensor is also tipped to offer exceptional HDR performance, boasting a dynamic range of over 100dB. Furthermore, the sensor may support 4K 120fps and 8K 30fps video recording modes with HDR functionality.
In comparison, Samsung’s ISOCELL HP1 (1/1.22-inch) remains its largest 200MP camera sensor, while the ISOCELL HP2 (1/1.4-inch) is recognized as its most advanced. Additionally, Samsung has engineered a 1/1.4-inch ISOCELL HPB sensor which is featured in the telephoto setup of the Vivo X300 Pro.
The upcoming Sony LYT-910 camera sensor may be implemented in the OPPO Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra in the following year. Samsung is expected to rely on its own 200MP sensors for its devices, with the Galaxy S26 Ultra likely featuring the ISOCELL HP2 (200MP) sensor.
