Fast Technology reported that Sony officially released its new generation mid-range smartphone, the Xperia 10 VIII, this morning. The phone is priced at £549, which is approximately RMB 5028.
The phone features a 6.1-inch LTPS OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, employing Sony’s signature notch-less and punch-hole-less design, and boasts an FHD+ resolution. Sony claims its brightness is 50% higher than its predecessor, but did not specify the maximum brightness value. Speakers are integrated into the top and bottom bezels of the screen, resulting in a 30% increase in volume.
The back features a horizontally positioned camera module, a right-angled frame design, and a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button. The overall design continues the minimalist style that the Xperia series has always maintained.
In terms of hardware configuration, the Sony Xperia 10 VIII is equipped with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and supports microSD card expansion. This makes the Xperia 10 VIII a rare smartphone in its price range to support storage expansion, while also retaining a 3.5mm headphone jack.
It is understood that Sony’s decision to retain the microSD card slot and 3.5mm headphone jack stems from its internal market research. Sony previously stated that its flagship Xperia 1 VIII sold strongly, with users giving these two traditional features extremely high praise. Sony has also explicitly stated that these two features have become an indispensable part of the Xperia brand identity.
In terms of imaging, the Sony Xperia 10 VIII continues the dual-camera setup of its predecessor, featuring a 50MP main camera and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The main camera sensor has a 1/1.56-inch size. The battery capacity remains unchanged at 5000mAh, supporting 30W fast charging.
Overall, the Xperia 10 VIII retains the classic design while also maintaining Sony’s consistent commitment to practical functionality.
