The OnePlus 16 screen enters the 1mm era: the narrowest bezel in history.

The OnePlus 15, released last October, was hailed by many netizens as having the most aesthetically pleasing front design of the year thanks to its 1.15mm ultra-narrow four-sided equal-bezel screen. Recent leaks about the next flagship, the OnePlus 16, suggest that OnePlus is preparing to break industry records again in screen bezel design.

According to leaks, the OnePlus 16’s screen bezels will be further reduced to below 1mm, making it the only flagship model in its sub-series to enter the 0.xmm era . This specification will not only break the industry record for the narrowest flat screen, but also secure its title as the “dream phone for flat screen enthusiasts” ahead of time.

In terms of the supply chain, the screen for the OnePlus 16 will be supplied by either Tianma or BOE. Tianma has already released a sample screen with a bezel of only 0.8mm, and it also maintains the visually striking four-sided equal-sided design.

The key to achieving such an extremely narrow bezel lies in the introduction of a brand-new LIPO packaging process. This process, known as low injection pressure overmolding, works by directly encapsulating the screen’s ribbon cable area with a high-molecular liquid material, thus completely eliminating the traditional buffer protection zone.

This packaging method not only significantly enhances the visual immersion of the front, but also provides better protection and manufacturing consistency for the screen bezels. Combined with the rumored 240Hz ultra-high refresh rate, the OnePlus 16 may bring a significant shock to this year’s flagship market in terms of front-facing visuals and user experience.

As is customary, the OnePlus 16 will be launched around October this year.
