Xiaomi Becomes The 2nd Top in China’s Smartphone Market, Challenging Apple

Xiaomi has made a significant leap in the Chinese smartphone market, securing the top position among domestic brands and ranking second overall, just behind Apple. According to the latest data from BCI, Xiaomi holds an 18.3% market share, while Apple leads with 21.1%.

Impressive Activation Numbers for Xiaomi and Apple

In November, Apple’s iPhone activations reached 6.044 million units, a year-over-year increase of 2.2%, translating to an additional 130,000 units compared to the same period last year. Xiaomi, on the other hand, saw a substantial rise in activations, with 5.243 million units, marking a significant 44.1% year-over-year increase, equivalent to an additional 1.605 million units.

Xiaomi’s Leadership Acknowledges the Achievement

Xiaomi Group’s partner, Lu Weibing, acknowledged the gap with Apple and emphasized the need for continued effort. Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, echoed this sentiment, encouraging the team with a supportive “Xiaomi, keep it up!”

Xiaomi 14 Series’ Impact on Sales

The impressive performance of Xiaomi in the market is largely attributed to the launch of the Xiaomi 14 series. During the week of its release, Xiaomi’s sales market share soared to 21.9%, making it the leader in Android sales. Just over 20 days after the launch, Lei Jun revealed that sales of the Xiaomi 14 series had already surpassed one million units.

In summary, Xiaomi’s recent surge in the Chinese smartphone market, closely trailing Apple, is a testament to its growing popularity and the successful launch of its Xiaomi 14 series. The company’s leadership remains focused on closing the gap with Apple and continuing its upward trajectory in the competitive smartphone market.
