Xiaomi Mi 12 series will not have the “advanced material” function of Surge OS

According to Fast Technology on August 2, Xiaomi Community released a latest announcement stating that the Xiaomi 12 series of mobile phones will cancel the “advanced material” function of the Surge HyperOS system.

It is reported that after a round of optimization testing, the effect of turning on “advanced materials” on the Xiaomi 12 series mobile phones was not as expected, and the battery life dropped by more than 10%.

In addition, in common scenarios such as the pull-down notification bar, after multiple rounds of optimization testing and turning on the “advanced material” effect, the smoothness gap is still more than 10%, which does not meet the release standards of the development version.

In order to provide users with a smoother experience, after comprehensive internal evaluation, this function will not be launched on the Xiaomi 12 series models.

It is reported that “advanced material” is Xiaomi’s major design in the Surge HyperOS system, which supports the global addition of blur and other rendering effects on the mobile phone system, provides a more delicate visual texture, and makes the overall system look more high-end and beautiful.

After the user turns it on, real-time blur and other effects can be triggered on system pages (control center, background, etc.).
