Xiaomi Mi 18 debuts with Leica dual 200MP cameras: Xiaomi’s most powerful standard flagship.

According to a recent leak from blogger Digital Chat Station on July 1st, the Xiaomi 18 will receive a major upgrade to its imaging system – for the first time, it will be equipped with a large-sensor Leica dual 200-megapixel solution.

It is reported that the Xiaomi 18 will be equipped with a large-sensor Leica 200-megapixel main camera, paired with a Leica periscope telephoto lens of the same 200-megapixel resolution, as well as a Leica ultra-wide-angle lens. The triple-camera setup covers the full range of shooting needs from wide-angle to telephoto.

Compared to the previous generation Xiaomi 17’s imaging configuration—a combination of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens—the Xiaomi 18 has made a significant leap in both pixel count and imaging capabilities, especially in high pixel resolution and telephoto image quality, which is expected to deliver even better shooting performance.

In addition to a significant upgrade to the imaging system, the Xiaomi 18 will also be equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8E6 flagship platform. This chip is manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process and is Qualcomm’s first mobile chip to adopt a 2nm process, which is expected to achieve a significant generational improvement in performance and energy efficiency.

The release schedule for the Xiaomi 18 series has also been adjusted. It is understood that Xiaomi will launch the higher-spec Xiaomi 18 Pro series first in September, while the standard Xiaomi 18 will be released separately afterward, a departure from the previous strategy of launching the entire series simultaneously.

Regarding pricing, looking back at the previous generation, the starting price of both the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 15 remained at 4499 yuan. However, with the advent of the 2nm era, chip manufacturing costs have risen significantly, coupled with the general increase in the prices of core components such as memory, making a price increase for the Xiaomi 18 series a foregone conclusion. The specific amount of the increase will be officially revealed at the launch event.
