Xiaomi Redmi K80 Pro To Feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 4
The Redmi K80 series, eagerly anticipated for its cutting-edge technology, has been unveiled, marking a significant milestone as the first to incorporate the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. On March 6th, leaker Digital Chat Station hinted that the Redmi K80 series is currently undergoing testing. Similar to its predecessor, the K70 series, the K80 lineup spans two generations of Snapdragon platforms.
Traditionally, the Redmi K80 standard edition is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the K80 Pro boasts the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, set to be launched by Qualcomm in October, represents the next generation of flagship platforms. This chip, for the first time, utilizes TSMC’s 3nm process and features Qualcomm’s custom Oryon cores, with CPU speeds exceeding 4GHz. The K80 Pro will be Redmi’s inaugural flagship phone powered by a 3nm chip.
It’s noteworthy that the Digital Chat Station mentioned the K80 series would only include versions with the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, hinting at the absence of the Redmi K80E model. In the past two years, Redmi released the K60E and K70E models, powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8200 and 8300-Ultra processors, respectively. This year, it seems the K80E might not make an appearance.
Moreover, the Redmi K80 series is expected to feature a large-capacity, high-density silicon anode battery, a 2K display, a metal frame, and a glass body, setting a new standard for Redmi’s flagship offerings. The new series is anticipated to debut by the end of this year, heralding the arrival of Redmi’s next-generation “flagship welder.”
