vivo Y21 5G Battery Capacity and Charging Specifications Surface
After launching the vivo Y21 in 2021 the brand is now developing the Y21 5G. While it’s a slightly puzzling move, vivo has opted to reuse the name instead of exploring one of the many other options available.
Vivo appears to be offering different battery sizes for the Y21 5G depending on the market with India and Malaysia receiving a 6,355 mAh rated battery. Other regions will reportedly get a 5,090 mAh rated unit which is expected to be marketed as a typical 5,250 mAh capacity while the larger one will be listed as 6,500 mAh.

This information comes from the fact that the smartphone carries two separate model numbers, each corresponding to a different variant. The first model V2553 has already received official certifications for sale in markets such as India and Malaysia, as confirmed by BIS and SIRIM listings. Meanwhile, another version carrying the model number V2554 has also been identified. Notably, both models have been listed in the EPREL database suggesting similar specifications between them. One such shared feature is support for 44W wired charging.
According to the EPREL labels the battery inside the Y21 5G is rated to last up to 1,600 charging cycles while retaining at least 80% of its original capacity. The same listings also show that the device has received an A rating for drop resistance underscoring its durability while its repairability score is rated at C. Additionally the smartphone will feature an IP65 certification providing protection against dust and resistance to minor water splashes. Long term software support is also confirmed with Android security updates promised for up to five years.
