Samsung’s first tri-fold screen has entered the mass production stage. Samsung is expected to hold an Unpacked event later this month, and the new product will be available for sale in November. This is the first tri-fold screen in Android history and is expected to be named Galaxy Z TriFold. It will compete with Huawei Mate XTs Extraordinary Master launched at the same time.
According to news from the supply chain, the production of Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold has been reduced to 50,000 units, which is far lower than the previous estimate of 200,000 units. The number is extremely small. Samsung launched this model to understand whether consumers really need a three-fold screen.
What is more noteworthy is that this three-fold screen mobile phone is only sold in South Korea and China. Samsung adopts this small-scale limited sales strategy to avoid distracting consumers’ attention and prevent the product from diverting demand for Galaxy Z Fold7.
Industry insiders believe that most mainstream mobile phone manufacturers are currently taking a wait-and-see attitude towards tri-fold phones and will not follow suit in the short term. On the other hand, tri-fold screen phones are generally expensive, which also limits their market audience.
