Galaxy S22 And Others Will Soon Receive One UI 6.1 Update Samsung Confirms

More and more devices are currently receiving the new One UI 6.1 update. Now Samsung has announced the time frame and exact scope of the update for the Galaxy S22 and other devices. They receive significantly more of the new AI functions than initially expected.

Samsung officially confirms the update

Almost a week ago, there were increasing indications that Samsung’s new user interface One UI 6.1 would also be released for older smartphones and tablets. Today there was an official confirmation from the South Korean manufacturer including the release period.

Accordingly, the software update will be released at the beginning of May for the following models:

• Galaxy S22
• Galaxy Z Flip 4
• Galaxy Z Fold 4
• Galaxy Tab S8 series

More AI ​​functions are added

It was initially suspected that One UI version 6.1 for these devices would come without most of the new AI features that the update brought to devices like the Galaxy S24. But the majority of these applications will now also find their way to the phones and tablets listed above. These are the following features:

• AI-generated wallpapers: Generative, AI-powered wallpaper generation through text prompts.
• Browsing Assistant: Uses AI to summarize web pages or articles in short and slightly longer formats.
• Chat Assistant: Translates messages into your preferred language in real time. This feature is supported in the Messages app and instant messaging apps like WhatsApp.
• Google Circle to Search: Draw a circle around something on the screen to learn more about it.
• Text suggestions: Samsung Keyboard uses AI to offer grammar and spelling corrections. Different writing styles and suggestions are also offered.
• Generative image editing: The built-in photo editor uses AI to offer advanced editing features, including removing objects more accurately and correcting angles and orientations of images.
• Interpreter: Interpreter mode is used for real-time language translation when users speak face-to-face.
• Live Translator: Translates speech in real time during voice calls.
• Note Help: Groups and formats notes in the Samsung Notes app. Converts handwritten notes into a correctly formatted note structure.
• Transcription Help: Transcribe voice recordings and automatically tag people using the Samsung voice recorder.
• The only features the older Samsung devices don’t get are Instant Slo Mo, weather effects on the lock screen, and Super HDR. These AI applications remain reserved for the Galaxy S24 series.
