Samsung is now focusing on its next flagship device, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, as the Galaxy S25 reaches consumers. Initial development signs are evident, with the first firmware for the new foldable smartphone appearing on Samsung’s servers.
The first software build for the U.S. version of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (model SM-F966U) has been spotted online via @tarunvats33. This firmware, identified as **F966USQU0AYB3**, will likely operate on Android 15 with One UI 7.x. Traditionally, Samsung’s foldables release with a One UI x.1.1 version, but this year may see a change.
Recent reports suggest that Samsung could skip One UI 7.1.1 due to delays with the stable release of One UI 7.0 for other devices. This implies that both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 may launch with One UI 7.0.1.
Rumors about the Galaxy Z Fold 7 suggest it will have a screen aspect ratio akin to that of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, it may feature larger displays—a 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8-inch foldable display—with minimal crease visibility on the foldable screen.
However, it’s reported that the phone may not be compatible with the S Pen. The design is anticipated to be very slim, around 10mm thick, and will likely include a 4,400mAh battery with 45W fast charging. Camera enhancements could consist of a 200MP primary lens alongside ultrawide and telephoto options.
Internally, the device is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, coupled with at least 16GB of RAM and a minimum of 256GB of internal storage. Additional features such as an IP68 rating, stereo speakers, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor are expected to be retained from its predecessor. If the rumors hold true, the larger screens and bold features mean that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is shaping up to be an impressive device.
