Samsung is about to take foldable phones to the next level with its first ever tri fold smartphone. The company is set to introduce the Galaxy Z TriFold, a device that folds and unfolds twice. After teasing it at a recent event, the phone is expected to be launch officially on December 5.

As we already know, the Galaxy Z TriFold will come with a 10 inch main display and a 6.5 inch cover screen. Its initial launch will be limited with the United States as the only Western country currently scheduled to get it. As with other high performance Galaxy phones, buyers in the US will have the option to purchase it through carriers or as an unlocked device.

Until now, Samsung had been focusing on firmware testing for the carrier locked version of the device (SM-F968U). However, sources confirm that firmware testing has now begun for the unlocked variant, model number SM-F968U1.

Given that the device is set to launch in under a month, the late start of firmware testing is somewhat unexpected. However, the TriFold is a major release for Samsung and the company has likely worked to keep it confidential. Testing may have started earlier but remained unnoticed.

No matter what, the Galaxy Z TriFold is getting closer to its official launch. Samsung fans in the selected regions that will receive it first will soon be able to purchase the device. Of course, buying this cutting edge phone won’t come cheap, so you’ll need to be ready to spend a significant amount.
