Fast Technology reported that blogger Dingjiao Digital revealed a new change in the sales structure of the Huawei Mate 90 series. In this generation of Mate, Pro and higher-end models accounted for over 70% of sales, representing a more than 60% increase compared to the same period last year. The blogger stated that despite the overall decline in the current mobile phone industry, Huawei has maintained a strong market share in the high-end segment.

It’s worth noting that the main selling model of the previous generation Mate 80 series was the standard version. Data shows that the Huawei Mate 80 topped the sales charts for domestic mobile phones in the first half of the year.

Despite the overall pressure on the mobile phone industry and some manufacturers scaling back their high-end product lines, Huawei’s sales share of high-end models has increased rather than decreased. This indicates that high-end users prioritize the Huawei Pro series when upgrading their phones, demonstrating a strong consumer habit.

Unlike last year, the Mate 90 Pro series has seen a more significant upgrade this year, especially the Pro Max Collector’s Edition and RS Edition. This phone not only features the Kirin 9050 Pro and a dual-layer OLED screen, but also the exclusive modular camera, the Ruiying Z10.

This product, codenamed “King Kong,” is equipped with a self-developed 1-inch RYYB sensor, marking Huawei’s achievement of full-chain independent control over mobile imaging, from CIS sensor to ISP processing. It can work deeply with the mobile phone SoC, achieving fast, accurate, and stable focusing through software, hardware, and AI collaboration and intelligent fusion focusing technology, significantly improving the success rate of handheld long exposure and video shooting.

Furthermore, Huawei has applied for dozens of patents, accumulating technological reserves for subsequent iterations of its imaging capabilities. This series of selling points gives users willing to pay for a better experience a clear reason to upgrade. Some netizens have commented that when the high-end version delivers a noticeable leap in experience, users are naturally willing to spend more money.

In an era of fierce competition for existing market share in the mobile phone industry, whoever can maintain their high-end market share will hold the initiative in the next round of competition. The changes in the sales structure of the Mate 90 may be a signal that Huawei is entering a new stage of its premiumization strategy.
