According to multiple sources, Huawei’s annual flagship Mate 90 series is expected to be officially released on September 23, according to Fast Technology on August 12. Industry experts generally expect the starting price of the series to increase, with the previous generation’s starting price of 4699 yuan likely becoming a thing of the past.

Previously, Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s Executive Director, Chairman of the Product Investment Review Committee, and Chairman of the Terminal BG, publicly stated at the launch event for the flagship MPV and Huawei’s all-scenario new products that the mobile phone industry may face large-scale price increases in the future due to rising prices of core components such as memory. If companies continue to sell at the original prices, they will face the risk of losses.

Huawei has previously been relatively restrained in raising prices; the previous generation Mate 80 series even lowered its price while improving configurations. However, judging from Yu Chengdong’s statement, Huawei phones will most likely adjust their pricing strategy to adapt to industry cost changes.

In fact, this round of price increases began as early as March this year, becoming the largest and most widespread collective price hike in nearly five years. According to memory price tracking data from third-party research firm Counterpoint, smartphone memory prices increased by more than 80% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter of 2026.

IDC analysts point out that manufacturers’ previously purchased low-priced inventory is gradually being depleted, and cost pressures will be concentrated in the second half of the year. Therefore, a price increase for the Huawei Mate 90 series is almost a certainty.

As the most powerful Mate ever, the Huawei Mate 90 series will be the first to feature the Kirin chip built on the Tao Law. This chip is the first to adopt logic folding technology, upgrading to a brand-new dual-layer vertical stacking architecture, replacing the traditional “geometric miniaturization” with “time miniaturization”, achieving a leapfrog improvement in performance and energy efficiency without relying on more advanced lithography processes.

This also means that the Mate 90 series will see a qualitative leap in core performance, and the new product is worth looking forward to.
