Fast Technology reported that Huawei held a HarmonyOS 7 and all-scenario new product launch event this afternoon, officially launching the HUAWEI Mate XT 2 Extraordinary Master Wing-Shaped Tri-folding phone.

This phone is the first to be equipped with the Kirin 9050 Pro chip based on the Tao Law folding technology. This is also the first time in six years since the Mate40 series that Huawei has explained the new Kirin chip in detail at a flagship launch event.

The Kirin 9050 Pro is a mass-produced logic folding architecture chip, the first to use the Tao Law, and adopts the Lingxi CPU hyper-threading architecture with a 9-core solution, equipped with 1 Prime super core, 2 Performance cores, 4 Efficiency cores, and 2 Little cores.

The internal logic units of the chip are stacked in layers, and vertical interconnect channels are added, resulting in a 24% increase in single-core peak performance and a 52% increase in multi-core concurrent performance.

The chip integrates the Ma Liang GPU and the Da Vinci NPU unit. The Ma Liang GPU supports 50 million lines of real-time ray tracing, improving rendering performance by 142% and 4K video export speed by 40%. The whole machine achieves software, hardware, chip and cloud collaboration, and the overall performance is 42% better than the Mate XTs.

Integrating the Balong baseband improves satellite paging success rate by 42% and is the first to support low-Earth orbit broadband satellites.

Employing a multi-channel thermally conductive package and a large VC graphene transaxial heat dissipation system, the game temperature rise is reduced by 2.5℃.

The device adopts a brand-new double-inward folding wing triple-folding structure. Compared with the previous generation Z-shaped folding solution, the two side screens fold inward, and the main screen can be completely stored inside the body. All flexible bending areas are inside the body when closed.

When folded, the body is 3.5 mm thick, and the device is available in three colors: black, white, and purple.

The device features an independent, rigid, dual-layer OLED outer screen, allowing users to make and receive calls, reply to messages, and scan codes to make payments without unfolding the inner screen.

When fully unfolded, the inner screen measures 10.2 inches with a resolution of 2232×3184. It uses UFG ultra-flexible glass material and supports a 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate and 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. The screen is available in two versions: a hardware privacy shield version and a regular shared version. You can switch between the two modes by double-clicking.

The imaging system is also top-of-the-line for foldable screens, equipped with a flagship triple camera system plus a third-generation red maple primary color camera. The main camera is an 18EV ultra-high dynamic range camera, using a 50-megapixel RYYB sensor, supporting a continuously variable aperture of F1.49-F4.0, with a sensor size of 1/1.28 inches, and featuring LOFIC technology.

The ultra-wide-angle camera features a 40-megapixel RYYB sensor with high dynamic range shooting capabilities; the periscope telephoto is a large-aperture periscope telephoto with a 50-megapixel RYYB sensor, an F2.2 aperture, supports 3.5x optical zoom and 7x optical quality zoom, is equipped with OIS optical image stabilization, and also supports telephoto macro function.

The imaging system features a third-generation red maple primary color camera with a new filter lens, improving infrared light purity by 100% and effectively filtering infrared stray light; the ultra-large pixel size increases light intake by 96%. Compared to the previous generation Mate XTs, color reproduction capability is improved by 95%.

The rear camera module area also integrates a photoelectric sensor, featuring the industry’s first ECG electrocardiogram analysis. Pressing the sensor with a finger can collect physiological data such as heart rate, electrocardiogram, and blood oxygen. The collected data can be synchronized to the sports and health application for storage and viewing.

Communication specifications cover 5G, eSIM, UWB ultra-broadband, Wi-Fi 7, StarFlash connection, Tiantong satellite calling, and Beidou satellite messaging.

The device comes pre-installed with the HarmonyOS 7 operating system. The system has been optimized for large-screen interaction on tri-fold devices, supporting free arrangement of multiple windows, cross-application flow, and multi-screen collaboration. The Android compatibility layer has been removed, and all functions run on the HarmonyOS self-developed framework.

In terms of pricing, the Huawei Mate XT 2 Extraordinary Master will be available in four versions and will go on sale on September 12th at 10:08 AM.
