Huawei’s strongest imaging flagship: Pura 80 series tested multi-focal length periscope

blogger Digital Chat Station hinted that Huawei’s Pura 80 series, codenamed HL, is testing a multi-focal length periscope.

He also said that he was not sure whether the Pura 80 series would support continuous optical zoom, and the supply chain materials currently only wrote “multi-focal length periscope”.

Public information shows that the P series periscope telephoto camera can be traced back to the Huawei P30 Pro. This periscope lens enables the P30 Pro to have 5x optical zoom and 10x hybrid zoom capabilities, which made many users call the P30 Pro a Huawei-branded “telescope” at the time.

After the market received positive feedback on periscope telephoto lenses, almost all flagship phones now come standard with periscope telephoto lenses.

With the iteration and upgrading of technology, periscope telephoto has also ushered in a variety of gameplay, one of which is continuous optical zoom, and the relevant model is Sony Xperia 1 V.

This Sony flagship supports continuous zoom equivalent to 85mm to 125mm, which not only solves the image quality requirements, but also solves the problem of mobile phone body thickness.

Another way to play is to use more fixed-focus lenses to indirectly improve the camera’s multi-focal length shooting capabilities, such as the common 3x and 3.5x telephoto lenses, combined with a 5x periscope telephoto lens, and finally use algorithms to reduce the loss of image quality. Relevant models are OPPO Find X7 Ultra, Find X8 Pro, etc.

The periscope telephoto solution of the Pura 80 series is still uncertain at present. The new product will be launched in the first half of next year. This will be Huawei’s most powerful imaging flagship and is worth looking forward to.
