iPhone 17 is expected to come with 12GB of memory as standard across the board
According to Kuo Ming-Chi’s latest analysis report, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are all confirmed to be equipped with 12GB of memory.
Apple hopes that the standard version of the iPhone 17 will also be equipped with 12GB of memory, but it is worried about insufficient supply. It is currently conducting a final evaluation and is expected to make a final decision in May.
If the evaluation is passed, this will be the most conscientious upgrade Apple has made in recent years. In the second year of 8GB for the entire series, it has achieved a big leap to 12GB for the entire series, and the upgrade intensity is unprecedented.
Of course, this is not Apple’s outrageous kindness, and it is expected to be a compromise made for Apple Intelligence.
The iPhone 16 series was upgraded because Apple Intelligence requires at least 8GB of memory to run fully. It is expected that the requirements for AI functions on the iPhone 17 series will be further improved, and 8GB will no longer be able to meet them.

Currently, mobile phone AI is divided into two types: cloud and local. Cloud AI requires data to be collected on the cloud for processing, and the model is more universal.
Localized AI can run and process directly on the terminal device and has a faster response speed, but the latter requires larger memory to support it.
It is worth noting that Apple will still release the iPhone 17e next year. As the successor of the SE series, the phone is still equipped with 8GB of memory.
