German media iPhone-Ticker broke the news that an internal document of a German telecom operator showed that
Apple’s new generation iPhone 17 series is very likely to be officially released on September 9th, US time. It is expected that the new phone will be available for pre-order on September 12th and officially go on sale on September 19th.

According to reports, the cameras of iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are expected to be significantly upgraded, adopting a new horizontal camera module, an 8x optical zoom telephoto lens, a higher-pixel front lens, and a top camera control button. It will also have a built-in app with professional-level photo and video recording functions.

First of all, the iPhone 17 Pro series will adopt a horizontally extended camera module. Although the three-lens arrangement still maintains the triangular shape since the iPhone 11 Pro, the microphone, LiDAR optical radar and flash are all moved to the right to help accommodate a larger image sensor.

Secondly, this year’s iPhone 17 Pro series will be equipped with a new 48-megapixel telephoto lens, providing higher image quality, which also means that its three lenses have been fully upgraded to 48 million pixels . The new lens can also use optical cropping to take 12-megapixel photos, and the optical zoom ratio has also increased from 5x to 8x, with stronger long-range capabilities.

In addition, unlike the iPhone 16 Pro equipped with a physical “camera control” button on the lower right side of the fuselage, the iPhone 17 Pro may add a second camera control button on the top of the fuselage to quickly start the photo function. However, considering that the camera control button was only introduced last year, the possibility of this rumor coming true is low.

In addition to the upgrade of the rear lens specifications, the front lens of the iPhone 17 Pro will also be upgraded from 12 million pixels to 24 million pixels, making selfies clearer.

In addition, Apple is rumored to be creating a new professional-grade camera app for iPhone 17 Pro users, which can be used for taking photos and videos. Its functions are comparable to other professional camera applications such as Halide, Kino, Filmic Pro, etc.

The iPhone 17 series is expected to launch four models, including iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air (replacing Plus) with an ultra-thin body, and iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.

In terms of chipset, the Pro and Pro Max will use the latest A19 Pro processor, powered by TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process (N3P) , providing enhanced performance and power efficiency. The standard iPhone 17 and 17 Air may use the slightly lower-performance A19 chip, but also using N3P process technology.
