MediaTek Dimensity 9500’s ray tracing performance surges over 40%

As we enter the second half of the year, each company’s new generation flagship mobile platforms are about to debut. Among them, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 is particularly anticipated. Judging from current signs, it will be another all-round leap.

According to the latest leaks, the new generation Drage Immortalis GPU used in the Dimensity 9500 will adopt a new microarchitecture, which will greatly increase its capabilities. It is expected that the energy efficiency will be greatly improved by more than 40% compared with the previous generation Immortalis-G925.

What is particularly eye-catching is that the GPU ray tracing performance will also soar by more than 40%, which is expected to push the frame rate of ray tracing mobile games to exceed 100FPS!

This is thanks not only to the powerful performance of the Drage GPU itself, but also to MediaTek’s careful tuning, which has fully unleashed its performance potential.

Mobile ray tracing has been proposed for many years and has been implemented on multiple generations of platforms, but it has always faced two major problems: insufficient number of games and poor performance.

It now seems that the Dimensity 9500 is finally expected to make mobile ray tracing truly practical, and it is bound to drive more mobile game manufacturers to join in.

According to previous leaks, the computing power of the Dimensity 9500 GPU is expected to reach 100 TOPS, further enhancing the AI application experience. Moreover, while the performance has made great strides forward, power consumption will be significantly reduced thanks to higher energy efficiency.

The Dimensity 9500 is expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process N3P, and will continue to use an all-large-core CPU architecture, including one super-large core Travis, three super-large cores Alto, and four large cores Gelas. All of them are first launches. Travi and Alto belong to the X9 series and support the Arm SME instruction set, while Gelas belongs to the A7 series.

Dimensity 9500 is quite worth looking forward to.
