MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro’s single-core performance challenges Apple A20 Pro: Vivo debuts the chip.

September this year can be said to be the most exciting month of the year for the digital mobile phone industry, with flagship chips from many leading manufacturers making their debut. In addition to the release of Apple’s A20 Pro chip, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 Pro will also be launched in September. Both of these flagship SoCs are manufactured based on TSMC’s most advanced 2nm process.

According to a digital blogger, the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro has seen a significant performance upgrade, abandoning the traditional 4+4 configuration and adopting a brand-new 2+3+3 all-big-core architecture design.

The Dimensity 9600 Pro’s super core clock speed is close to 5GHz, far exceeding the previous generation Dimensity 9500’s 4.21GHz, and MediaTek’s goal is very clear.

The goal is to make the Dimensity 9600 Pro’s single-core performance match that of the A20 Pro, which was launched at the same time, and to surpass it in multi-core performance, making it the most powerful mobile phone chip in the entire history of Dimensity chip development.

In addition to the significant breakthrough in core frequency, the chip also introduces the latest SME2 instruction set and integrates a high-performance GPU based on the Arm Magni architecture.

This hardware and software combination will significantly enhance the chip’s overall performance in artificial intelligence computing and large-scale mobile game rendering scenarios, achieving a visible improvement in both edge AI computing power output and game screen smoothness.

In terms of storage specifications, the Dimensity 9600 Pro is also at the forefront of the industry. It not only fully supports faster LPDDR6 memory, but also takes the lead in adapting to the industry’s cutting-edge UFS 5.0 flash memory, which will bring the daily read and write response speed of the whole machine to a new level.

Following MediaTek’s past practice of first-launch collaborations for flagship chips, the new Dimensity 9600 series will be first launched globally by the vivo X500 series. Consumers will be able to use mass-produced commercial mobile phones equipped with this 2nm flagship chip as early as September.
