Micron unveils the smallest UFS 4.0 mobile storage solution at MWC 2024
Micron Technology unveiled the world’s smallest UFS 4.0 mobile storage solution at MWC 2024, as reported on February 27th by Fast Technology. This groundbreaking development was driven by smartphone manufacturers’ desire to allocate more internal space for battery enhancements.
This compact storage solution, measuring just 9×13mm, is built on 232-layer 3D NAND technology. Compared to a previous solution released in June of the prior year, which measured 11×13mm, the new design has reduced its size by 20% without compromising performance.
The storage offers up to 1TB of space, with sequential read speeds reaching up to 4300MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 4000MB/s. Notably, it features a high-performance mode that can increase speed by 25%, ensuring a smooth experience even during extended smartphone use.
Currently available in sample form, this storage solution comes in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB variants, and is expected to be integrated into smartphones soon.
