The Nothing Phone (2a) is anticipated to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona on February 26. Rumored to be priced at $400, the phone is expected to be available in multiple regional variants. It will feature a centered design with a punch-hole selfie camera and dual rear cameras and will run on Nothing OS 2.5. The device is equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 7200 chipset.

Nothing, a company founded by Carl Pei, initially focused on earbuds but soon ventured into smartphones. The Phone (1) was their first attempt, which emphasized features over specs and was priced in the mid-range segment. Following its success, the company released the premium Phone (2) the next year.

The Nothing Phone (2a) is seen as a return to the brand’s more affordable roots, catering to cost-conscious consumers. The design of the Phone (2a) is expected to be centered, with the selfie camera, dual rear cameras, and the Glyph lights all positioned in the center. The Glyph lights will have a new design, featuring a simpler three-section circle-esque shape.

The phone is expected to launch with Nothing OS 2.5 on top of Android 14, offering new home screen widgets, customization options, wallpapers, volume controls, gesture controls, and shortcuts.

The Phone (2a) is reportedly codenamed both Pacman and Aero with model number A142 and is expected to feature a 120Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,084 × 2,412. It will likely come in two memory configurations: 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage and 12/256.

The Phone (2a)’s cameras are rumored to include two 50MP sensors for the rear and a 32MP Sony IMX615 for the front. The phone’s launch is eagerly awaited, and more details are expected to be revealed at the Mobile World Congress 2024.
