OnePlus 15 Secures FCC Approval, US Launch Expected Shortly
The OnePlus 15 was first released in China in October and later launched worldwide earlier this month. However, despite the international launch, bringing the phone to the United States proved more complicated than expected because there was a particular issue that created a delay for the U.S. release.
The company had submitted all of the required documents to the U.S. FCC, just as it does normally when seeking certification for a new device. All testing procedures had been completed, which mean that the phone was technically ready to be approved. However, because the U.S. government went into shutdown, the FCC temporarily stopped issuing certifications. As a result, the approval of the phone was delayed. The OnePlus 15 5G was expected to be available in a 256GB version with 12GB RAM for £849 or €949 and a 512GB version with 16GB RAM for £879 or €999.
Because of the earlier issue with certification, the launch of the OnePlus 15 in the United States was delayed, and the phone is still not available for purchase there. Thankfully, there is positive news now. The FCC has now officially granted the device its certification. This development removes the last major obstacle, giving OnePlus the green light to introduce the phone in the United States shortly.
The OnePlus 15 feature a large 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1272×2772 pixels. The screen support a very high 165Hz refresh rate and can reach up to 1,800 nits of brightness in High Brightness Mode. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and comes with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM. The device features a triple rear camera system: a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera that provides 3.5x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide camera. A 32MP front camera handles selfies. The phone has a huge 7,300 mAh battery and supports multiple fast charging options including 120W wired, 50W wireless and 10W reverse wireless charging. The device runs Android 16 with OxygenOS 16 providing a smooth and responsive user experience.
