Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 first exposure: Android’s first 0-crease flagship
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that in order to compete with the foldable iPhone, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8, which will be launched in the second half of 2026, will use a 0-crease panel.
It is reported that the main reason for creases on folding screens is that repeated bending of the screen causes stress concentration, causing permanent deformation of the material. The metal plate can disperse the stress caused by bending, reduce the risk of the material exceeding the elastic limit, and thus reduce the formation of creases.
Guo Mingchi said that Apple’s foldable iPhone is required to have no creases. The metal plate used in this device is designed and manufactured by supplier Fine M-Tec and produced through laser drilling technology, which is very expensive.
In order to compete head-on with Apple, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 also uses metal plates designed and manufactured by Fine M-Tec to achieve a completely crease-free visual effect. This will be the first crease-free folding screen flagship in the Android camp.
It is worth noting that due to the large demand for metal plate orders from Samsung and Apple, supplier Fine M-Tec announced that the company will invest approximately 17.5 billion won to increase production capacity. The investment period is from July 17, 2025 to January 20, 2027.
