According to Fast Technology on July 2nd, in addition to the highly anticipated Mate 90 series, Huawei’s upcoming Mate XT2 tri-fold phone will also be among the first flagship models to be equipped with the Kirin 2026 processor, positioning it at the highest level.

Following reports that this highly anticipated triple-folding screen phone will adopt a brand-new U-shaped folding design, a digital industry blogger recently revealed that the new phone will feature an unprecedented breakthrough in battery materials, with the silicon content of the new battery expected to be exceptionally high.

The brand-new folding structure design, coupled with a significant increase in the silicon content of the negative electrode battery, has a very clear direction. Huawei’s R&D goal is to fit a much larger battery than the previous generation into the body of the Mate XT2, which is still kept extremely compact in size, and completely solve the pain point of short battery life that is common in foldable screen models.

For reference, the previous generation of the tri-fold flagship Mate XT had a battery capacity of 5600mAh. Based on all the currently revealed parameters, it is highly likely that the battery capacity of this generation of Mate XT2 will be increased to 6500mAh or even higher.

In addition, the Mate XT2 completely abandoned the S-shaped folding design used in its predecessor and instead adopted a brand-new U-shaped folding structure design.

Both screens on the new phone can be folded inwards, providing better protection for the main screen from scratches when closed. It also features a dedicated external screen, allowing most common operations to be performed without unfolding the main screen, significantly improving the convenience of daily use.

Based on current leaks, this new phone will be officially launched in September this year, simultaneously with the Mate 90 series. Both will be the first to be equipped with the new Kirin series chip, tentatively named Kirin 2026. This chip is the first processor to use the technology related to Tao’s Law, and the official claim is that it has an equivalent 3nm process level, and its overall performance will be significantly improved.
