Qualcomm’s official Weibo account confirmed that the 2025 Snapdragon Summit will be held on September 24-25, and that its flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 chip will debut, nearly a month earlier than in previous years. It’s worth noting that MediaTek plans to release the Dimensity 9500 on September 22.

According to previous leaks from Digital Chat Station, the chip utilizes TSMC’s N3P process and Oryon v2 architecture, achieving an AnTuTu score exceeding 4 million points (up 27.6%). The Adreno 840 GPU has a 16MB cache (up 33%), boasts 100 TOPS of AI computing power, and supports real-time multimodal interaction. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 inherits the architecture of the previous generation, employing an octa-core design comprised of two super-large cores and six large cores, making it the most powerful mobile chip in the Android ecosystem.

In addition, according to the leaked information, we can see that the latest prototype of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 has better game frame rate performance in actual tests, and the power consumption is lower than Snapdragon 8 Elite. Some ultra-high-load mobile games can be reduced to 1W±. The goal is to reduce all ultra-high-load mobile games to 5W.

Xiaomi is expected to be the first to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 , and other related models such as iQOO, Honor, and OnePlus will also be the first to be released with it in October.

2025 marks Qualcomm’s 40th anniversary and its 30th anniversary in China. Leveraging its collaborative innovation strengths in “AI + Connectivity,” Qualcomm is collaborating with Chinese partners to accelerate the scale-up of cutting-edge technologies.

The official announcement is that the “2025 Snapdragon Summit China” will be held in Beijing from September 24th to 25th. Through diverse formats and interactive sessions, the summit will explore the future direction of the mobile computing industry. The new Snapdragon flagship platform will also be officially unveiled at the summit, raising expectations.

Editor’s comments:

The release of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 may mark the entry of mobile chip performance into the “4 million points era”: it continues the 8-core architecture (2 super cores + 6 large cores), relying on TSMC’s N3P process to achieve a leap in energy efficiency. While the AnTuTu running score has exceeded 4 million points, the AI computing power has reached 100 TOPS, providing the hardware foundation for edge-side generative AI applications (such as real-time multimodal interaction and local large model operation).

This breakthrough not only consolidates Qualcomm’s technological leadership in the Android camp, but also drives smartphones from “parameter involution” to “scenario-based experience competition”, accelerating the process of AI function differentiation in the high-end market.
