The second-generation wide-screen folding Huawei Pura X2 has been revealed for the first time:

According to Fast Technology on August 3, in March 2025, Huawei’s Pura X pioneered a new form factor of wide folding screens, adopting a 16:10 screen ratio.

Thanks to this unique design, the Pura X achieves a display area on its 6.3-inch screen that is almost equivalent to that of the 6.9-inch iPhone 16 Pro Max, with the former measuring 114.89 square centimeters and the latter 115.47 square centimeters.

According to a recent leak from blogger Super Dimension, Huawei will launch its second-generation foldable foldable phone, the Pura X2, in March next year. Reportedly, its design will remain consistent with the Pura X Max, with the ratio of the inner to outer screen expected to be adjusted from 16:10 to 2:1. The inner screen size will remain at 6.3 inches, a change that may result in a more balanced visual experience.

Compared to traditional horizontal and vertical folding screens, the Huawei Pura X2 offers a third option. It breaks free from the constraints of traditional phone screen ratios, and through its folding design, it retains the portability of a small folding screen while achieving an effective display area that is difficult for ordinary candybar phones and small folding screens to match.

Taking watching movies and TV shows as an example, traditional large foldable screens with an inner screen ratio close to 1:1 often waste display space due to the large “shared area” when playing videos. This is because most movies, TV shows, and short videos are produced in a ratio close to 16:9. When displayed on a 1:1 screen, black bars at the top, bottom, left, and right are unavoidable, greatly reducing the actual viewing experience.

The Huawei Pura X series, with its screen that more closely matches the content’s aspect ratio, effectively reduces black borders when displaying the same content, allowing the image to fill the entire screen as much as possible. This difference in experience is one of the key reasons why the Pura X series is so appealing to users.

It’s worth mentioning that the previous generation Pura X, with its new wide-folding design, shipped over 1.5 million units, becoming a blockbuster product of the year. As its successor, the Pura X2 is expected to continue this momentum and achieve even better market performance. User acceptance of the wide-folding design has laid a solid market foundation for the release of the Pura X2.
