Vivo Upgrades Vivo X100 Screen With Improved Eye Protection And 2160Hz Frequency Dimming

On January 19, 2024, Vivo announced through its official Weibo account a significant upgrade to the screen technology in its X100 series. The new eye protection solution in the Vivo X100 series supports 2160Hz high-frequency dimming, with an SVM (Stroboscopic Visibility Measure) value that can go as low as 0.03. This lower-frequency flicker brings enhanced eye protection to users.

Han Boxiao from Vivo stated that the standard version of the Vivo X100 has already received a system update, and the official version update for the Vivo X100 Pro will be released a few days later.

The 2160Hz high-frequency PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation) dimming solution in the Vivo X100 series has a minimal impact on display quality. The SVM value is now almost indistinguishable from that of LTPS OLED screens. This technology not only offers advantages over DC dimming in terms of low-brightness display quality but also addresses the issue of visual fatigue commonly associated with low-frequency PWM dimming.

Even for users who are extremely sensitive to screen flickering, the Vivo X100 series promises a comfortable viewing experience without concerns.

It’s important to note that the 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming solution slightly increases the phone’s power consumption. Han Boxiao mentioned that, on average, the X100 series will see a 2-3% impact on power consumption due to this feature.
