vivo’s wide-screen smartphone will debut in 2027: small-sized (under 6.5 inches).
According to a forward-looking leak from digital blogger @DigitalChatStation on November 6th, a certain mobile phone manufacturer plans to launch a new wide-screen phone in 2027. The early plans tend to focus on a smaller size, with the screen size likely to be controlled below 6.5 inches.
The blogger did not directly name the manufacturer, but based on their past leaks, it is expected that this product belongs to vivo.

The wide candybar design is based on the traditional candybar design but with a wider screen ratio, changing the display area from vertically elongated to horizontally widened.
Compared to the current mainstream slim screens, it offers more horizontal space when browsing web pages, reading documents, and displaying content in columns. When watching videos, the screen ratio is closer to that of common videos with fewer black borders, and landscape gaming and split-screen multitasking are also more convenient.
Since it does not require folding hinges, this form factor can also avoid problems such as creases, complex structures, and high maintenance costs.
For reference, Huawei’s Pura X View, launched in September 2026, was the first mass-produced wide-screen smartphone, equipped with a 6.39-inch, 16:9.5 aspect ratio OLED flat screen.
When watching 16:9 video content, the black bars are further reduced, landscape games provide a wider field of view, and when browsing documents, web pages, and news feeds, more text information is displayed on a single screen, reducing the need for frequent page turning and zooming operations, thus meeting the usage needs of multiple scenarios such as watching movies, working, and reading.
Even with supply shortages, the Pura X View has already surpassed 1 million units shipped, and several manufacturers are currently evaluating and planning to follow suit with this wide-screen smartphone.
