Xiaomi 18 Pro Max to be the first to use Qualcomm’s 2nm chip!

The engineering specifications of a certain manufacturer’s ultra-large-sized flagship have surfaced today. According to a digital chat site, the manufacturer’s 2nm “large-sized” engineering prototype has entered the testing phase. It features a large rounded corner ultra-narrow four-sided straight screen design and is fully equipped with core configurations. Based on information from multiple sources, it is speculated that this device is the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, which will be launched in the second half of the year.

The imaging system is the most important aspect of this upgrade. Leaks indicate that the phone will exclusively feature a 200-megapixel LOFIC ultra-large sensor main camera, along with a 200-megapixel large-sensor telephoto macro lens, forming a “dual 200-megapixel” luxury solution. The main camera sensor size is expected to reach 1/1.28 inches, and the telephoto end will support close-range macro shooting. The blogger responded to this by saying “close-range telephoto macro”.

According to previous reports, the Pro Max will retain the classic rear screen design, making it one of the few flagship models in the Android camp to stick to the secondary screen solution.

In terms of performance, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is expected to be the world’s first to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 Pro chip, built on TSMC’s 2nm process. This chip adopts a 2+3+3 tri-cluster octa-core CPU architecture, supports LPDDR6 memory, and upgrades the GPU to Adreno 850, resulting in significant improvements in on-device AI performance and ray tracing capabilities.

The battery life configuration is equally aggressive, with the engineering sample having a battery capacity of over 8000mAh and a target of up to 8500mAh, supporting 100W wired and wireless flash charging.

It’s worth noting that some users in the comments section bluntly stated, “The cost must be outrageous,” to which the blogger responded, “It’s okay, the price is high anyway.” Affected by the soaring cost of 2nm chips and rising storage prices, the pricing of the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max may significantly increase, and the previous generation’s starting price of 5999 yuan is unlikely to be maintained.

Editor’s Review:

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max boasts a plethora of high-end components, including dual 200MP cameras, a 2nm chip, and an 8500mAh battery—each a top-tier product from the supply chain. However, the blogger’s comment that “it’s also expensive” indirectly acknowledges the possibility of a price tag of over 10,000 yuan.

With the Ultra version reportedly canceled, the Pro Max effectively takes over the “ultra-large” positioning. Its success or failure not only concerns the market performance of a single product but is also a crucial battle for Xiaomi’s brand to break into the ultra-premium segment. When hardware specifications reach their limit, how to convince users to pay the “high price” tests the true value of the brand’s premium.
