Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen5 suddenly exposed: OnePlus’s global debut
Qualcomm will launch two new Snapdragon 8 series platforms in the second half of this year: the SM8850, dubbed the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, and the SM8845. Blogger Digital Chat Station revealed today that the SM8845 may be named the Snapdragon 8 Gen5.
The blogger previously revealed that OnePlus is expected to be the first to be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen5. In the second half of this year, OnePlus will open a new product line in addition to the digital series and Ace series. The new product will be the first to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen5 chip. Brands such as Blue Factory and Honor will also use this processor.

It is reported that the Snapdragon 8 Gen5 is built based on TSMC’s 3nm process N3P (third-generation 3nm process) and adopts Qualcomm’s self-developed Oryon CPU architecture. It is equipped with “2+6” full-large cores, completely abandoning the traditional small-core architecture and optimizing multi-threaded task processing capabilities through dynamic resource allocation.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen5’s AnTuTu comprehensive benchmark score is approaching 3 million points, putting its overall performance close to that of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This will be Qualcomm’s new flagship processor. Starting with the Snapdragon 8 Gen5, Qualcomm broke with its traditional “one chip per generation” strategy.
