vivo S50 Series Preview: The First Snapdragon 8 Gen5 Small-Screen Flagship
A new vivo phone with model number V2528A has officially passed 3C certification, showing that it supports 90W wired fast charging.
According to the well-known digital blogger “Digital Chat Station”, this model belongs to the vivo S50 series and continues the dual-size strategy, with 6.59-inch and 6.31-inch screens respectively. The Pro mini version may be equipped with Qualcomm’s new generation flagship platform Snapdragon 8 Gen5, achieving a significant leap in product positioning.
According to certification information, 90W fast charging will be a standard feature of the vivo S50 series, continuing the series’ consistent advantage in charging efficiency. More notably, the Pro mini version of the series is expected to be equipped with the yet-to-be-released Snapdragon 8 Gen5 processor.
According to leaks, the chip uses TSMC’s N3P process and is equipped with two 3.8GHz super cores and six 3.32GHz large cores based on the Oryon architecture. The GPU is an Adreno 840, and its overall performance is expected to be impressive, with an AnTuTu score expected to exceed 3.3 million.

The imaging system will be another major upgrade highlight of the S50 series. All models will come standard with a periscope telephoto lens, which, combined with algorithm optimization, will bring significant improvements in portrait and landscape photography. At the same time, the lens module design will be updated to a new scheme that better aligns with current mainstream aesthetics, enhancing product recognizability.
Of particular note is the S50 Pro mini’s superior configuration. This 6.3-inch small-sized flat-screen phone, while maintaining a compact body, is planned to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen5 flagship platform and a periscope telephoto imaging system, and is expected to become a rare “small-screen all-around flagship” on the market, satisfying users who demand both comfortable one-handed operation and top-notch performance.
With Qualcomm announcing that the Snapdragon 8 Gen5 will be among the first phones from brands like OnePlus, vivo, and iQOO to feature it, the release plan for the vivo S50 series is becoming clearer. This series, through simultaneous upgrades in processor, imaging, and fast charging, demonstrates vivo’s clear intention to strengthen its competitiveness in the mid-to-high-end market.
Editor’s Review:
The network access approval of the vivo S50 series indicates that the mid-to-high-end mobile phone market will welcome a strong competitor.
The Pro mini version is particularly noteworthy, as it combines the Snapdragon 8 Gen5 flagship chip with a 6.3-inch small screen and periscope telephoto lens—features that are difficult to achieve simultaneously—precisely addressing the market’s high demand for small-screen, high-performance flagships.
If the final pricing is competitive, the vivo S50 series will not only reshape the product image of the S series, but also potentially change the competitive landscape of the current mid-to-high-end market, providing consumers with more differentiated value options.
