Motorola Edge 70 Ultra Geekbench Test Reveals Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Performance
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 from Qualcomm hasn’t been completely revealed yet and interestingly, it skips the ‘Elite’ branding yet the company has already confirmed several key features. The most interesting feature is the CPU, which will use Qualcomm’s own Oryon cores instead of Arm’s Cortex cores. This will mark the first time a non-Elite Snapdragon chip will do this.
The Motorola XT2603‑1 benchmark entry points to the upcoming Edge 70 Ultra/X70 Ultra, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. It achieved single‑core scores of around 2,600 and multi‑core scores of approximately 7,500. The listing also identifies 16 GB of RAM and Android 16 as the operating system, suggesting the phone is aiming to be a serious flagship competitor.
This processor is faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (there was no Gen 4) which gets around 2,100–2,200 in single-core and 6,500–6,600 in multi-core tests. Still, it doesn’t reach the level of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The Snapdragon 8 Elite typically hits 3,000–3,100 in single-core and 8,700–9,800 in multi-core though results can change significantly across different devices. The latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 goes even higher, achieving approximately 3,500–3,600 in single-core and 10,000–11,000 in multi-core performance. This makes it currently one of the fastest chipsets available in the market.

Geekbench doesn’t conduct GPU benchmarks, but it does list the graphics processor as an Adreno 829. Based on Qualcomm’s sequential naming pattern, the GPU appears to sit between the Adreno 825 in the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and the Adreno 830 in the 8 Elite in terms of graphical capability.
The Motorola Edge 70 Ultra, also known as the X70 Ultra in some markets, is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. It comes with 2× 3.65GHz prime cores and 6× 3.32GHz performance cores. The phone also offers 16GB of RAM and ships with Android 16.
There’s still no confirmation on when Motorola will introduce the Edge 70/X70 flagship. The Moto Edge 70 (also called the X70 Air) was the first model of this generation and launched a few weeks ago.
