Digital blogger “Smart Pikachu” revealed that Huawei is currently testing a new widescreen vertical folding phone, which is expected to debut in the first quarter of 2026.

The blogger also revealed that the new phone will be equipped with a Kirin 9030 processor and has a large screen, making it one of the few new phones with a vertical folding design to choose from.

According to Huawei’s introduction of the Mate 80 series, the Kirin 9030 chip paired with HarmonyOS 6 improves the overall performance of the device by 35% compared to the Kirin 9020 paired with HarmonyOS 4.3.

However, there is currently no confirmed information regarding the specific manufacturing process and architecture of the Kirin 9030 chip.

It is understood that Huawei released the Pura X in March this year. It is the world’s first wide foldable phone. The phone adopts a unique 16:10 aspect ratio wide screen design, with a display ratio close to that of a tablet, which can increase the display area for users in various scenarios such as watching movies, creating content, and browsing.

In September of this year, media reports indicated that Huawei Pura X shipments had exceeded 700,000 units.

As a leader in the foldable screen market, Huawei continues to expand its leading advantage, with a record high of 75% market share in the first half of the year, shipping 3.74 million units.

Since launching its first foldable phone in 2019, Huawei has become the first Chinese brand to achieve cumulative shipments of over 10 million units.
