Moto G17 Memory and Storage Specifications Confirmed, G17 Power Model Also Expected
Motorola introduced its G15 smartphone, an entry level 4G only device back in December 2024 but it didn’t actually become available for purchase until February of this year. Given that timeline, it’s understandable if you’re starting to wonder when a follow up model might appear. Motorola seems to be on the same page, as reports indicate that the company is already developing the next iteration, the Moto G17. Currently, the G15 comes in two main configurations: the 128GB model with 4GB of RAM is available for $117 (C$139.99) and a higher end 512GB version with 8GB of RAM can be purchased for $165 (C$310.62).
Motorola has already published an FAQ page for the upcoming G17 on its US support website providing guidance on how to insert or remove a SIM card. The presence of this page not only confirms that the G17 is in development but also reveals that the device will support microSD cards with capacities of up to 1TB. Furthermore, the information suggests that a Moto G17 Power version will also be released to accompany the standard G17, similar to the way Motorola previously launched the G15 alongside the G15 Power as part of a dual device strategy.

Meanwhile, Italian retailer listings have revealed more details about the upcoming Moto G17. The phone is expected to come in two color options: Alaskan Blue and Evening Blue. One of the variants will feature 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage offering ample performance for everyday tasks. For reference, the current Moto G15 Power with the same 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at approximately C$189.99 or £225.94.
At the moment, the handset is listed only as “out of stock” and there is no official information on when it might become available for purchase. Based on the timing of its predecessor’s release, however it’s safe to predict that we are likely just a few weeks away from seeing this new model officially launch.
