Last week, Carl Pei, the CEO of Nothing, talked about the next generation of their smartphones, called the Nothing Phone (4a). He called the new phones a “complete evolution,” implying that they will be quite different and improved compared to previous models. However, Pei did not share any specific information about the phone’s features or even confirm when it would be officially launched. Recently, a leakster named Yogesh Brar has shared some information that gives us a little more idea about the phone.
According to leakster Yogesh Brar, the upcoming Nothing Phone (4a) and its higher-end version, the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, are expected to be released worldwide in the beginning of March. The date that seems most likely for this global launch is March 5.
The leakster also pointed out that the new Nothing Phone (4a) models will have upgraded storage. Nothing has already verified this, confirming that the (4a) models will be equipped with UFS 3.1 storage, which is an upgrade from the UFS 2.2 storage used in the older (3a) models. This upgrade might make the phones a little more expensive. It’s also important to remember that UFS 3.1 is not the latest storage standard, so there are even newer formats available in the market.

According to leaks, both the Nothing Phone (4a) and (4a) Pro are expected to be powered by Snapdragon 7-series processors, although the exact chip models have not been confirmed yet. Beyond the expected performance boost, Carl Pei has also said that the phones will feature improvements to the screen and the cameras. However, no additional information has been provided regarding the exact nature of these display and camera improvements.
The upcoming Nothing Phone (4a) models are expected to come with a small increase in battery capacity. The EU database shows that the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro will be equipped with a 5,080mAh battery that can last for 1,400 charge cycles. For comparison, the current Nothing Phone (3a) Pro comes with a slightly smaller 5,000mAh battery, also rated at 1,400 cycles. The charging speed will stay the same at 50 watts.

According to the information listed in the EPREL database, one of the improvements that will come with the new Pro model is its water and dust resistance. The new phone is expected to be rated IP65, which represents a higher level of protection than the IP64 rating that the earlier model offered.
Pei mentioned that Nothing will not be releasing a flagship smartphone this year. Because of this, the company is placing a lot of importance on the success of the Phone (4a) series, as it will carry much of the brand’s expectations.
