According to a post on the blog Digital Chat Station, the next-generation 6.3-inch small-screen phone is currently evaluating a dual 200-megapixel imaging system . This model is expected to be the Xiaomi 18 Pro, Xiaomi’s iteration of its small-screen flagship phone.

The Xiaomi 17 series was released last September. The Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max are equipped with a 50-megapixel Light Hunter 950L CMOS sensor and a 50-megapixel Leica ultra-wide-angle lens.

The two models differ in their telephoto lens configurations. The Xiaomi 17 Pro features a 50-megapixel 5x optical zoom lens with an inverted floating periscope telephoto lens group, while the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is equipped with a super prism periscope lens, with the same pixel count and magnification as the 17 Pro.

If the Xiaomi 18 Pro can be equipped with a dual 200-megapixel imaging system, making up for the imaging shortcomings of small-screen models, it will undoubtedly greatly enhance its competitiveness in imaging.

Earlier, the OPPO Find X9s, also positioned as a small-screen flagship, was confirmed to have made a leap forward in imaging specifications. It is expected to adopt a quad-camera system, including a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, and a multispectral sensor.

Editor’s Review:

In today’s increasingly competitive small-screen flagship smartphone market, manufacturers are breaking through the functional compromises caused by various body limitations in order to enhance the competitiveness of their products.

Xiaomi’s use of dual 200-megapixel cameras in its imaging system is a strategic choice that aligns with market trends, and it is believed that this will continue to lead in sales and reputation in the small-screen phone market.
