Fast Technology reported that blogger Majin made a major leak on social media, suggesting that Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Fold, may eliminate the MagSafe magnetic charging feature. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro series, released at the same time, will continue to include magnetic wireless charging as standard.

According to industrial mold diagrams shared by the blogger, the back of the iPhone Fold does not have space reserved for a magnetic charging coil. This design omission surprised many Apple fans, given that the magnetic charging ecosystem has become one of the core experiences that Apple has been promoting in recent years.

Public opinion has expressed difficulty in understanding Apple’s configuration segmentation. Even the entry-level, most affordable iPhone 17e already includes MagSafe, while the iPhone Fold, the brand’s flagship among flagships, has chosen to omit this practical feature.

In terms of core configuration, the iPhone Fold will be equipped with the A20 Pro flagship chip built on TSMC’s 2-nanometer process, and 12GB of RAM, designed to provide the strongest power for multitasking on the large screen of the foldable screen, and will also feature dual 48-megapixel lenses.

The price will be the most talked-about aspect of this new product. Industry analysts predict that its starting price will easily exceed $2,000, and the top-of-the-line version may even approach $3,000. It will break Apple’s historical price record for iPhones, becoming the most expensive and highest-end iPhone ever.
