According to Fast Technology on June 12, after nearly a year of delays, the Trump T1 phone began shipping in May of this year, priced at $499.

Recently, the well-known teardown team iFixit released a teardown report on the T1.

The conclusion is straightforward: the internal design and core configuration of this phone are almost identical to those of the HTC U24 Pro. It can be seen as an HTC U24 Pro with a gold casing and American flag elements.

iFixit stated that before the formal disassembly, the team first conducted non-destructive testing on the T1 using a Lumafield CT scanner, and the results showed that the internal structure of the device was almost a perfect match for the HTC U24 Pro.

Subsequently, iFixit conducted further teardowns and comparisons of the two phones, finding that they were highly consistent in terms of component shapes, internal layouts, screw positions, and even the location of anti-tamper stickers.

Previously, it was noted that the flash and camera positions of the T1 appeared slightly different from those of the HTC U24 Pro.

However, upon disassembly, it was found that the position of the flash contacts themselves had not changed; the only change was to adjust the appearance by extending the ribbon cable.

In addition, the speaker opening styles of the two phones are also different, but iFixit says that this does not affect the internal structure, the speaker and its position are still the same, and it is more of an appearance change.

In terms of core configuration, iFixit discovered on the T1 motherboard that the device is equipped with a Qualcomm SM7550 chip, which is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.

The memory and storage packaging is from Micron, with specifications of 12GB LPDDR5 + 512GB, while the HTC U24 Pro previously disassembled by iFixit used SK Hynix packaging.

Even more interestingly, iFixit also installed the HTC U24 Pro’s motherboard into the T1, and the phone worked normally, further demonstrating that the two models have extremely high hardware compatibility.

The most obvious difference between the two is the battery. The T1 battery has a nominal capacity of 5000mAh, which is higher than the 4600mAh of the HTC U24 Pro. The battery cells are from Newlix Mfg Inc. in the Philippines.

However, the T1’s charging power is limited to 30W, while the HTC U24 Pro supports 60W fast charging.

iFixit believes that the current teardown results cannot prove that the T1 is “Made in the USA”.

It points out that if a mobile phone is to be labeled “Made in the USA,” it needs to meet the relevant requirements of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, and the T1 is currently more like a product with an appearance modified based on an existing ODM solution.

It is understood that one of the key selling points of the T1 was “Made in the USA”. However, just six days after its release, the company’s official website changed the description, removing the words “Made in the USA” and replacing them with the more vague “Designed with American values”.

In February of this year, Trump Mobility executives also admitted that the T1 would not be entirely manufactured in the United States, with only the final 10 components to be “finally assembled” in Miami, and mass production still taking place overseas.

In other words, iFixit’s teardown reveals that the Trump T1’s so-called “American phone” aura is more about its appearance and marketing packaging, while its hardware is essentially the same as the HTC U24 Pro.
