According to blogger Smart Pikachu, Huawei is currently the only company in the industry developing a wide-screen smartphone, which will be unveiled at the end of the year and will feature a triple-camera setup and a large 7K-level battery.

The new phone adopts a 16:10 aspect ratio, which is close to the unfolded display effect of the Pura X. It features a four-fold ultra-narrow bezel, and the horizontal display area is significantly improved compared to conventional 20:9 phones.

When playing videos in mainstream aspect ratios, it can reduce black bars on the screen, bringing a more immersive audio-visual experience and improving operational efficiency whether watching videos or looking up information or documents.

For some games that are compatible with widescreen displays, a wider screen may also give users a competitive advantage in terms of field of view.

The core positioning of this new phone is to provide a wide folding experience as a replacement for traditional candybar phones, targeting users with limited budgets who want a wide field of view and long battery life, while avoiding the high price and fragility of foldable screens.

The engineering prototype has entered the testing phase, and its price may be lower than that of the Pura X foldable screen, with a starting price of less than 5,000 yuan, making it a new blockbuster in the mobile phone market in the fourth quarter.

However, a wider body may reduce the convenience of one-handed operation. Huawei needs to make certain trade-offs and optimizations to ensure a wide-screen experience while also taking into account the grip and portability of the device.
