The important functions of iPhone 16 and Watch S10 in China have been reversely upgraded
Apple released the iPhone 16 series and Apple Watch Series 10 series today. Although there have been some updates in functionality, the wireless fast charging function of the domestic version has been reversed.
According to Apple’s official specification sheet, the MagSafe wireless charging power of the Chinese iPhone 16 series is limited to a maximum of 15W, while the Hong Kong version can reach 25W.
The same problem also occurred on the Apple Watch Series 10. At the launch conference, Apple claimed that the watch could be charged to 80% in 30 minutes.
However, the Chinese version does not have this fast charging function, and does not even have the fast charging capability of the previous generation Series 9, which can charge to 80% in 45 minutes.
Not only that, the compliant charger that comes with the product does not support cross-regional use, so the Apple Watch S10 charger sold in China cannot be used with Apple Watches in other markets.
The reason for this phenomenon is mainly because the new national regulations allocate the 360kHz operating frequency used by MagSafe and Qi2 for aviation radio navigation services, causing Apple to block the wireless fast charging function on domestic devices through software.
However, it is worth mentioning that the draft opinion on this regulation was released as early as 2018, and it was only prepared for implementation last year. Apple should have enough time to adjust the charging agreement, but it is unknown why it did not make adjustments.
