Although the official version of iOS 18 will be released on the same day as the iPhone 16 is released, many of the features demonstrated at the press conference have not been officially launched in iOS 18.0.

Such as ChatGPT support in Siri, image generation capabilities, hearing health features for AirPods Pro 2, a redesigned Mail app, and default browser selection in the EU. Apple also said it will provide full support for robot vacuum cleaners later this year.

In past years, iOS x.2 was released in December, and the same is expected to be true for iOS 18.2.

Here are the new features expected in iOS 18.2:

ChatGPT support in Siri : CEO Tim Cook said ChatGPT integration will come by the end of the year, and Apple is in talks to invest in OpenAI’s next round of funding.

Apple Intelligence expansion: It was announced during the iPhone 16 keynote that Apple Intelligence will be localized for additional English-speaking countries, and currently only supports US English.

Genmoji & Image Playground: Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that the image generation function will be brought to iOS 18.2. It is only supported on iPhone 15 Pro and higher models, and you can freely generate your own emojis and other interesting images.

AirPods Pro 2 Hearing Health: The hearing health features demonstrated on AirPods Pro 2, including hearing protection mode and clinical-grade hearing aids, are expected to be released later this year and have been FDA-cleared in the United States.

Redesigned Mail app: Apple’s new Mail app has a new design, categories, summary views, highlighted unread emails, etc. The smart reply feature is expected to be available in iOS 18.1.

EU’s mandatory browser selection screen: If you use Safari, the EU forces Apple to pop up a default browser selection screen once a year, which will not pop up if a third-party browser is used by default.

Robot vacuum cleaner support: Apple said that it will provide full support for robot vacuum cleaners later this year, which can interact with Siri through the Home App to achieve core control functions such as power control, cleaning mode, vacuum cleaner, mop and charging status.
