According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to release the iPhone 18 series in two separate groups. The Pro versions are expected to launch in fall 2026. However the standard vanilla models will be released later in spring 2027. This new approach could help Apple reduce the pressure on its usual fall launch event and make it less of a huge showcase.

Next year, Apple is set to introduce its latest devices. This will likely include the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the highly awaited iPhone Fold. Additionally, regarding to updates Apple Watches and Mac computers might also be part of the announcements.

In the spring of 2027, Apple will likely introduce the iPhone 18, along with a possible successor the iPhone 16e, which could be called the iPhone 18e and a potential new version of the iPhone Air. By splitting the release into two stages, Apple can better manage its production schedules and reduce the operational burden that comes with releasing all models at once.

Apple is reportedly using the iPhone Air which is produced in small numbers, as a platform to experiment with new hardware components. Engineers are likely using it to trial new features and components that may appear in the foldable iPhone which is expected to have a similar design and structure.

According to previous reports, the iPhone Air is expected to come with just a single camera lens. Apple reportedly believes that an ultrawide camera is not in high demand among users and the company may therefore focus on maintaining a simpler, more streamlined camera setup for this model. This strategy could make production easier, reduce costs and allow Apple to focus on other features that matter more to its customers.
