Apple iOS 18 developer preview Beta 5 released: the much-criticized photo album has been changed
Apple pushed the iOS 18 developer preview Beta 5 update (internal version number: 22A5326f) to iPhone users early this morning, 7 days after the last Beta/RC release.
Since the previous major revision of the photo album was widely criticized, Apple made changes to the interface this time, such as deleting the new carousel view, adjusting the position of the album, etc., which makes it look a lot neater than previous versions.
Apple said that iOS 18 beta 5 will adjust the location of albums for users with multiple albums. The Photos app is still fully customizable and users can rearrange sections and categories as needed.
This revised album version will also be pushed to more users in the next public beta version.
In addition, iOS 18 beta 5 also launched a new feature called “Distraction Control” for the Safari browser.
The feature is designed to give users more control over their web browsing experience by making it easy to block certain elements on web pages (such as login pop-ups and other content overlays).
Distraction control is accessible through the same page menu interface in Safari as Reader and Viewer, and users can enable distraction control through a new “Hide distractions” option, and will then be prompted to select different elements on the web page that they find distracting.
Apart from that, iOS 18 beta 5 contains some minor fixes, such as adjustments to the control center buttons.
