Details of Apple’s first foldable iPhone revealed: support for eSIM and return of Touch ID

Fast Technology reported on August 25 that well-known technology reporter Mark Gurman recently revealed more details about Apple’s first foldable iPhone.

Gurman revealed that Apple’s foldable iPhone will be equipped with four lenses: an external screen front camera, an internal screen front camera, and two rear cameras.

In addition, the new iPad Air, iPad mini and entry-level iPad models are all equipped with Touch ID power buttons. This feature may be continued on the foldable iPhone instead of the Face ID technology currently used on iPhones.

At the same time, the foldable iPhone will be equipped with Apple’s second-generation self-developed C2 baseband chip. Like the iPhone 17 Air, the former will not be equipped with a physical SIM card slot and will fully adopt an eSIM design.

Gurman also said that Apple is currently testing two versions of the foldable iPhone, black and white.

It is understood that the foldable iPhone will be released next year. The launch of this phone will become the most important design change in the iPhone series since Steve Jobs released the first iPhone in 2007.
