Blogger Digital Chat Station hinted that the entire Huawei Mate 80 series will be evaluated and tested with a straight screen, which is scheduled to be launched at the end of Q4 this year. Next year’s Pura 90 series and nova series are also expected to adopt the straight screen form.

He also hinted that the Mate 80 series has two 1.5K straight screens, measuring 6.74 inches and 6.85 inches respectively, both of which adopt an extremely narrow bezel design for a better look.

It is worth noting that the Mate 80 Pro series will still retain 3D face recognition, so the series will still use a three-hole screen form. The standard version does not support 3D face recognition and will adopt a single hole form.

It is reported that the Mate 80 series is expected to launch four models, including Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro+ and Mate 80 RS.

Judging from Huawei’s actions, the equi-depth micro-curved screen design will be phased out gradually. @数码闲聊站 previously mentioned that the once popular equi-depth micro-curved screen is expected to quickly move down to the thousand-yuan range, and the industry trend has quickly shifted to straight screens.

Although the iso-depth micro-curved screen feels more rounded, the straight screen is not easy to touch accidentally and the film is simple to apply. Currently, Samsung’s high-end flagships have fully returned to straight screens.

In addition, the Huawei Mate 80 series is equipped with native Hongmeng when it leaves the factory. As of now, the download volume of more than 20 apps including WeChat, Douyin, Alipay, Amap, and JD.com has exceeded 2 million.

To sum up, compared with the Mate 70 series, the Mate 80 series has a straight screen and is released later than its competing iPhone 17 series. This will be Huawei’s year-end masterpiece this year and is worth looking forward to.
