Huawei Mate 90 series debuts with quad SIM triple standby!
According to Fast Technology on October 5th, the entire Huawei Mate 90 series supports eSIM. China Unicom’s official eSIM service account, “Unicom eSIM,” stated that eSIM is gradually moving from being an optional feature on flagship models to being a standard feature across the entire Mate 90 series.
It is understood that the Huawei Mate 90 series supports 2 physical SIM cards + 2 eSIMs, and a phone can store up to 4 numbers.
For outbound users, upon arrival at their destination, they can directly download and scan a QR code to activate the local eSIM, eliminating the need to visit a physical store to exchange the card and reducing the risk of losing the physical SIM card.
For users with multiple phone numbers, the third and fourth numbers do not need to rely on a second mobile phone, and work numbers and personal numbers can be managed on one device.

It’s worth mentioning that the Mate 90 Pro Max, Mate 90 Pro Max Collector’s Edition, and Mate 90 RS support up to three numbers on standby simultaneously, making them the first phones in China to support four SIM cards and three standby modes.
When all three SIM cards are online simultaneously, users can choose from two options: 2 physical SIM cards + 1 eSIM, or 1 physical SIM card + 2 eSIMs.
This does not mean that physical SIM cards will disappear from the market quickly, but the pace at which eSIMs are spreading from high-end flagship phones to more models is accelerating.
Huawei’s flagship phone is the first to support four SIM cards with three standby modes, which China Unicom also sees as an important step towards the further popularization of eSIM.
